Recently, our Executive Director, Jose Fernando G\u00f3mez, was invited by the organization Transparency for Colombia to moderate a panel as part of the event \u201cDialogue on the Private Sector\u2019s Responsibility in the Energy Transition.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

The panel, titled \u201cInstruments to Promote Corporate Integrity,\u201d<\/em> included Karina Cruz, Director of Programs with Businesses and the Private Sector at Transparency for Colombia; Felipe Andr\u00e9s Solano, expert in ethical culture and compliance; Claire Launay, Program Director at Transparency for Colombia; Arianna Espinosa, Regional Director for Insuco in Colombia, Mexico, Central America, and Venezuela; and Juan Sebasti\u00e1n Mart\u00ednez, Economic Director at the Colombian Mining Association.<\/p>

It was a very engaging conversation, from which the following key takeaways emerged:<\/p>

  • There are already multiple tools (legal, technological, self-regulation, etc.) that demonstrate the importance of information disclosure and access.<\/p><\/li>

  • Companies are under increasing scrutiny and have fewer opportunities to withhold information about what they do and how they do it.<\/p><\/li>

  • Integrity-promoting tools are not an end in themselves\u2014they are a means, and they must serve a purpose.<\/p><\/li>

  • Much remains to be clarified about the type of information that will be required from both companies and the State as part of the energy transition agenda, especially considering transparency as a key condition for enabling a \u201cjust\u201d transition.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

    We thank Transparency for Colombia for the invitation to be part of this valuable space for dialogue, which aims to integrate diverse perspectives and opinions on topics of great relevance to the national agenda.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
